French Punk

Objective:

a punk anarchist anti-hate movement with a french twist

Location: Larimer Square, Denver, Colorado

Attendees: 1000+ people over 3 weekends in February 2020

Highlights of the experience: Bringing the movement of a "love revolution" to Dairy Block; it's an out-of-the-box experience incorporating immersive design, cuisine, and craft cocktails, featuring a Run For The Roses Pop Up Bar and activations over four weekends. French Punk puts a spin on the visually striking ephemera of Punk with a French twist, telling a story about the music, edgy fashion, and seismic shift in society. Inspired by a culture of resistance French Punk promoted anti-hate, anti-violence, anti-racism, anti-sexism, anti-homophobia. Featuring: a graffiti wall "we all bleed the same color" in various languages, building and interior graffiti read "Punk's Not Dead" painted by renowned artist, Tuke. A pop up bar made of stereos and speakers by Run for the Roses, Red Room - a hidden martini room with a red spiked wall, pinup posters, blow-up furniture, and red shag rug lit by an anarchy neon sign by Scott Young.

Sample Programming: Drag queens, drag brunches with Chef Kelly Whitaker’s Bruto creating a French picnic spread highlighting their famous baguette, concerts from DJ Cyn, curated musicians and DJs every night, a Night Bazaar featuring Dairy Block’s retailers and boutique shops, live tattoos from Little Black Church, faux- hawks for all, and an all-night leap year party.

“While the space certainly takes jabs at the frou-frou of traditional Valentine’s celebrations, it does a good job of showing that the most sincere forms of love often come in jagged packages.” - 303 Magazine

“Thrice did a miraculous job of synthesizing a wide range of styles into one cohesive whole — never once did a queen's erotic undulations feel out of place next to bites of brie and upscale charcuterie. In fact, the disparate element's coalescence made for an even more entrancing and transporting event.” - Colin Wrenn, 303 Magazine
